Palworld’s dedicated server software is officially Linux-supported as of 2026. A Hetzner CX22 at €4.51/mo is more than enough for a 16-player friends-and-family server.
Provisioning
Spin up a CX22 with Ubuntu 24.04. SSH in, create a non-root user, install steamcmd, and pull
the Palworld dedicated package (AppID 2394010). Total time: about 8 minutes.
Running it
Run the binary inside tmux with --EpicApp=PalServer and the right port flags. Add a systemd
unit if you want it to survive a reboot. Open UDP 8211 in the Hetzner firewall and you’re done.
The binary uses about 2.4GB of RAM with 12 connected players. CX22 has 4GB. Plenty of headroom.
