Linode dedicated CPU benchmark: Akamai era, six months on
We ran the same workload on Linode every quarter for two years. Here's what changed under Akamai.

Linode was acquired by Akamai in 2022. Six months into the rebrand to Akamai Connected Cloud, the question is whether anything actually changed for the customer.
The benchmark
Same Postgres + nginx workload, same hardware tier (Dedicated CPU 4GB), same probes for two years. Performance is statistically unchanged. Pricing is unchanged. Region count has grown modestly.
What’s different
The control panel got an Akamai-flavoured redesign that nobody asked for. Support tickets are slightly faster. Documentation is migrating to the Akamai Tech Docs site, which is worse.
Verdict
7.6, same as last year. Linode quietly remained one of the best mid-tier VPS providers under new ownership. Hetzner is still cheaper for similar perf.
